RECOMMENDED ACCESSORIES

Additive material extrusion includes countless upstream or downstream processes that are used for high-quality printing of components. Correct storage is a matter of course in any event. Some technical plastics such as polyamide also require pre-treatment in the form of material drying to achieve the best printing results. Material drying is also appropriate for fibre-reinforced filaments.

As the drying process depends on the material and the spools and can take several days to complete, separate pre-drying in special drying devices is recommended.

To dissolve liquid-soluble support materials, we recommend stainless steel cleaning boxes.

As an addition to Simplify3D or for processing STL models, we recommend the Meshmixer software solution from Autodesk.

passive filament drying device

Polybox passive filament drying device

Polymaker, a material partner of HAGE3D, offers a passive filament drying box device that is suitable for spools up to 750 g in weight. With moisture control and a hygrometer, the box is suitable for straightforward pre-drying of filaments.

Active filament drying device

Active drying offers a more reliable and, importantly, faster drying process for hygrophilic polymers such as polyamide. The active filament drying box is suitable for spools with a weight of up to 2.3 kg and is a standalone unit – the filament can be fed directly from the drying chamber into the printer to ensure pre-dried material, even with long-term printing.

The drying device can operate actively at up to 150 °C and can accommodate multiple spools at the same time.

The HAGE3D wash box can accommodate components up to a size of 554 mm x 350 mm x 236 mm and can wash out the soluble support structures in the liquid bath. The heatable stainless steel box can be completely closed, and even has a drainage channel.

Meshmixer

Meshmixer is freely available 3D software from Autodesk that offers numerous functionalities to support users with modelling and 3D printing. The current version of Meshmixer uses surface modelling to construct each type of part from another model, i.e. a triangular mesh describes the part. This makes it possible to combine multiple shapes together, analyse them before printing and export them to the correct format. The free software is easy to use and offers useful options, even for specialists.
